Job description

As part of a research project under the Mocopée programme, we are recruiting a research and development engineer to manage and carry out experiments on a semi-industrial-scale automated BAF (Biological Aerated Filter) pilot installed at the Seine Aval wastewater treatment plant (~ 5 million-population equivalent – located in Achères [78]). The aim of the work is to define, based on the results obtained, strategies for minimising nitrous oxide emissions from BAFs, which alone account for 40% of the plant's greenhouse gas balance.

Your responsabilities

In collaboration with the teams from the INRAE PROSE unit and the Operational Modelling Department of SIAAP's Innovation Division, you will be responsible for:

• Managing the experimental set-up and the project (continuous monitoring of the set-up, maintenance of sensors to guarantee data quality, management of operating conditions)
• Carrying out experiments
• Summarising the results in the form of scientific and technical reports and articles.

Desired qualifications 

• You have a PhD in process engineering, or a master's degree or engineering diploma in process engineering
• You have a good knowledge of wastewater treatment and data processing
• Proven track record in reactor operation
• You have a driving licence
• You enjoy working in an industrial environment (wastewater treatment plant)
• You have good writing skills in French and English
• Personal skills: you are a self-starter, you enjoy working in a team, you are organised and you like to argue your choices in meetings.

Further information

Start date: as soon as possible for a contract of 12 to 18 months
Location: Inrae Antony (92) in the Prose unit
Frequent travel to the Seine Aval plant (2 to 3 per week) and occasionally to the SIAAP Innovation Department in Colombes (92).
Provision of company vehicles for missions.
Variable remuneration depending on level of qualification, from €33 k gross per year.
